At the Gold Coast Heart Centre we aim to ensure all patients are advised of any and all costs likely to be incurred for consultation and medical tests and procedures. All of our Cardiologists have individual fee structures of which you will be advised, at the time of booking an appointment. We require payment in full on the day you attend the practice, for all consultations and diagnostic tests.
Payment can be made by either EFTPOS, Credit Card or Cash. Cheques, AMEX and Diner’s Club are not accepted.
A rebate is available from Medicare on most of our services. Once you have made payment to us, we can submit your claim directly to Medicare. Provided your bank account is registered with Medicare, your rebate should arrive in your account within 24 hours, however can occasionally be up to 72 hours. The rebates paid by Medicare are devised by the Australian Government and reviewed annually.
When you book your appointment with us, you will be advised of the fees payable and the associated Medicare Rebate. Should you have any further queries in relation to the fees, please speak with our reception team.
Please note that your Health Fund does not generally cover any outpatient services.
All Cardiologists at the Gold Coast Heart Centre participate in the ‘No Gap Scheme’ where offered by private health funds. This means that, provided you have adequate hospital cover, our Doctors will not charge a gap for your procedure. In this case, you will not receive an invoice from our Doctor, as the account will be forwarded directly to your Health Fund for payment.
However, not all private health funds offer the “No Gap” service and where this applies, the account will be sent directly to you, the patient. We request payment on receipt of the invoice; you can then take your invoice and receipt into Medicare who will reimburse you 75% of the MBS Schedule Fee. In some instances, you may then be able to claim a portion from your Health Fund as well.
Please be aware that, fees may still be charged, however, by other private Doctors, hospitals, pathology and/or radiology in relation to your hospital stay.
Please also note that, on occasion, a Doctor may deem it necessary as part of your cardiac care, to have a test done during your stay, at a time which is outside usual business hours. If this is the case, a technician will need to be called in to perform the test and subsequently, a fee may be charged for the call out.
We do endeavour to keep to schedule, however as we are in a hospital environment our Doctors and/or Technicians may occasionally be called to an emergency. Your understanding and patience, should this occur, will be appreciated.
We are available by phone from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm - Mon-Fri.
