Dr Vijay Kapadia has been a practicing Cardiologist on the Gold Coast for over 25 years. He sees inpatients at the Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara Private Hospital. He is in private practice at Gold Coast Heart Centre. He is also a visiting general and interventional cardiologist at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Dr Kapadia completed his specialty cardiology training at the Wellington Hospital and Green Lane Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. He was an interventional cardiology fellow in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

He has a special interest in all aspects of cardiology including clinical assessment, diagnostic imaging, pacing, paediatric cardiology and intervention. He regularly performs coronary angiography, angioplasty and pacemaker implantation.

He is actively involved in ongoing education and founded the Gold Coast Clinical Cardiology meetings which have been running monthly for over 21 years. He maintains a close teaching association with medical students and registrars.

Dr Kapadia has a strong interest in global health and is committed to improving cardiac care in Fiji. He has been the screening cardiologist of the Sydney Adventist Hospital’s Operation Open Heart Team for Fiji for patients with Rheumatic Heart Disease.

He established the South Pacific’s first tertiary cardiac unit with its cardiac catheter laboratory at the CWM Hospital in the capital, Suva where he is a visiting cardiologist. He is working towards making this a national and regional cardiac centre.

Dr Kapadia provides inpatient and outpatient consultation services weekly at our Southport (Gold Coast Private) and Benowa (Pindara Private) rooms. Inpatients at all three hospitals are visited on a daily basis. Weekend and Holiday cover is provided by other members of the Gold Coast Heart Centre, providing a 24 hour / 365 day per year service.
