Dr Tony Lai is a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist with a special interest in the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, heart failure, and valvular heart disease. He also specialises in non-invasive diagnostic cardiac investigations including transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography and cardiac CT angiography.

Dr Lai completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland and further cardiology training across Queensland at The Prince Charles Hospital, Townsville Hospital and Gold Coast Hospital. He continued to further his experience at the McMaster University in Canada completing a two-year intensive fellowship focused on interventional cardiology and cardiac CT angiography.

He is an accredited transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) operator and is experienced in complex coronary intervention. Dr Lai has contributed his knowledge and expertise to multiple research publications and is actively involved in teaching medical students.

Dr Lai visits inpatients at the Gold Coast Private Hospital, Pindara Private Hospital, and John Flynn Private Hospital. He joined Gold Coast Heart Centre in 2012 and sees patients at the Tugun, Southport and Hope Island practices.  Weekend and Holiday cover is provided by other members of the Gold Coast Heart Centre, providing a 24 hour / 365 day per year service.

He is committed to providing the highest cardiology expertise and is a multilingual medical practitioner fluent in English, Chinese Mandarin and Taiwanese.
